Could we raise £2k?
Thats the question i want to put to you. Its been a fair old while now since we bought our server outright and it was all down to everyone chipping in. We managed to pool together around £1.5k to purchase the equipment we needed. The question im asking in light of Blanks recent info to me and also the possible opportunities we have with another company. Could we raise £2k??? The reason i ask this is simple. With that money we would be able to buy essentially a Big Brother and Big Sister to the war server. Both of which would have 8 Cores, 8 Gig of RAM and the necessary other bits to crank out very high end performance. This itself might be a bit overkill but would mean we can transfer the current war servers onto a newly updated box (much better than the one its on). We could then open up a second high quaity War Box to support any new Rasta teams as well as support the community. Finally we would be able to move the publics off their old box bless them onto the current war server and have plenty of grunt to spare for future use or public expansion.
£2000 would be the target and that essentially is £40 off 50 people, £20 off 100 or £10 off 200. We easily know the latter figure of people so i thought perhaps this wont be as difficult as i thought.
Before we put the donations box back up i want to make sure this is something we all want and that it is viable. Give me your feedback over the next 24 hours and we go from there :)

No. This is going to seem like a rant but I don't really know how to say it with any tact; back then (when we raised the money first time around) think of the people that were around, that were part of rasta. Whilst I have no doubts that a few people will chip in, it won't be everyone like it used to be. With the expansion of rasta and gain of teams there has been a loss of the community feel and the "togetherness". I realise that there are people outside of rasta that will donate but the majority needs to come from within which in my opinion is an unobtainable goal. | |||

| Arky | fair point arcail but a very wrong opinion of where Rasta is atm. For you (and your team) it may feel as the community side of Rasta has subsided from the "good ole days" but if anything it has got an even better and stronger community feel now than ever before. The reason you dont feel this is because you ( probably not out of choice ) dont hang out with everyone like you used to. I think now we play more gathers and do more that involves mutliple teams. #Rasta Rasta.rwp Rasta5 Rasta| Rasta|| Rasta.Regsitered and Rasta THC all those teams mix together every day and i think 2k would be easily rasied within 2 months. I understand your frustration at the gaining of teams left right and centre. In my opinion this was needed to grow and it has worked because before we had 3/4 active competeing teams now we have 7 that i believe all compete at a very good standard, have alot of potential, represent Rasta in the spirit we would like ( -bash lol jokes :D) and also everyone in these new teams are driving the community to be bigger stronger harder and faster. Not having a dig at you but maybe if u guys started mingleing like you used to, you would see that Rasta is infact much more of a community than it was. | |||

All i can say atm from my perspective is this is very achievable, but if we donate and new teams come in, it will feel like we are funding them instead of everyone haveing equal footing, thats my only concern. I love rasta and i feel the community is amazing, i admit sunday - thursday i'm locked away praccying with my team, only reason we do this is because we are representing rasta at the the top end of ESL and ED and we don't want to make damage look like he's picked up some noobs :p Personally atm i'm skint, with lan and what not coming i won't be on steady footing until after lan around may when my next goverment influx of student loans comes through, so if its a long term goal i'll chuck 20 - 50 quid in may, until then i'm skint :( | |||

I agree on the new teams bit but the same could be said i guess about the current war server. A little bit from everyone (should mean not too much) would mean it simply pushes us forward a little bit more with regard to our hardware and servers. | |||

| Blanks | Renting servers off the old box would cause 3 main problems. 1. We would be in competition with our sponsor and so he would probably charge for the box. 2. I would have to put up with snot-nosed shit cunts that dont have the first idea how to run a fucking server and I would turn into an even nastier, bitter person. 3. We would then be pushing our luck on the amount of "free space" I could wangle so would end up costing us anyways even if it didnt piss INX off. Charging people to join is a moronic idea and will never happen. There is no deadline on when we need the money, but upgrades are always nice  | |||

| Blanks | We get network and power from INX. We don't use their hardware. Their hardware isn't powerful enough to support us on 1 server so we would end up with 2 or 3 which doesn't work out for them. | |||
